The flat one

Laureles is the argument against altitude. It sits on the valley floor, it is genuinely flat, and it was laid out with circular avenues and a tree canopy that most of the rest of the city never got. You can live here without a car in a way that is simply not possible above about 1,700 metres.

What it doesn't have, in quantity, is luxury inventory. The building stock skews 1970s to 1990s — solid, generously sized, and mostly without the amenity packages that define the upper-slope towers. There is a thin band of newer construction, and it gets absorbed quickly.

Who this actually suits

The honest downside

If your mental image of Medellín is a wall of glass looking down at the valley at night, Laureles will disappoint you. You are in the valley, not above it. The trade is deliberate and most people who choose it are happy with it — but go in knowing you've made it.
